Athens
For those of you who have been on Neptune for the past few days, protesters in Athens Greece are rioting in the streets. The cops are trying to keep the rioters at bay with tear gas and loud noises. The reason for the protests are that Greece is in dire need for funds in order to avoid ending up like Bosnia. Greece is requesting euro28 billion (equivalent of $40 billion US) from the EU and other investors. In order to qualify for this loan, Greek parliament must show cuts in government programs. Social Security, government jobs, higher taxes...ext. I guess the reason I'm writing about this story today is that we should stop taking the most free and democratic country in the world for granted. Do you really think that would happen here? ever? The fricken Greeks are auctioning off the citizens' futures. Hold on a second. Am I really sure that's the case? Well let's take a look at the strife of the Grecian people. The retirement age is 52! Wouldn't that be sweet. No wonder they can't afford not to cut Social Security. I don't think that when the framers of SS planned to pay for 30 plus years of retirement payments. Time for a change. Cutting government jobs? Ok, that's the way it goes. Yeah it sucks. No it's not fair. BooHoo. Sorry folks there's nothing we can do about it, we have to cut some jobs the same way corporations cut jobs when revenue decreases. Raising taxes. If the Greeks want to have polluted water, dirty streets, no law enforcement, than by all means riot. Who do you think pays for cleaning the streets after a riot? Someone has to get out there with street sweepers and pressure washers. Who's going to do it? YOU? You lieutenant Weinberg? (A Few Good Men).

Short-Terminism
I heard a term today that is new to me: Short-Terminism. At first I was pissed because I thought this was an addition to the short jokes that have plagued me my entire life. But Kulifay isn't blogging yet, so I'm safe for now. As I looked into this term a little more I found that this is a theory that a business is no longer looking for long term growth and prosperity; instead businesses are looking for large short term gains. Holy Shit, here's a new concept. I really thought that the business community would have figured this out by now. Every business that opens is looking to gain fast profits. It's human nature to try and get as much as possible as fast as possible. Business starters don't want to work 80 hours/week to make $20K/year. They want to work 8 hours/week make $20K in the first month, take it to Vegas and spend it on hookers and blow. We've been watch Paris Hilton and Girls Gone Wild for long enough to be envious of the lifestyle that money makes possible. As the country grows and the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the Jones Effect becomes more powerful, our citizens will continue to be influenced by our most influential force. We will always be infatuated with what others have and that motivates us. I for one don't think this is a bad motivation. If wanting to be like Chuck Sheen or Lindsay Lohan is what makes a person make something new or try something different or sell something unsellable, I say go for it. Make it happen. I'd ;like to party with Lindsay...and if given the chance hell yeah I'd do it. I just don't have any money making ideas...bummer for me.

today in the news
Blagojavich - guilty. good for him. who gives a crap. Casey Anthony - make it easy for everyone, just lock yourself in the trunk of your car. Violent Video Games - shouldn't the parents be at least a little more responsible for the games their kids play? It's easier for a kid to get Vicodin, crack, marijuana, cigarettes or any one of 2 million other addictive and brain-cell-killing substances than it is to get violent video games. Let's get our priorities straight people. We've been fighting a "war on drugs" for like 100 years. maybe it's time that someone wins. no need to add a new enemy.
...if anyone actually reads this....
My buddy Kulifay has been bugging me about starting a blog. I think he's just pissed because he wants to tell other people my jokes and take credit for them...but he can't remember things because his brain is coated with Miller Lite resin. Now he can use his iphone to read my jokes verbatim and impress the 19 year old co-eds at Perry Town Tavern. You're welcome Fay, just make them call you dfb.
California...here we come
top story on cnn.com this morning. "California Dream is Fading Fast." all in all the story is about how Americans no longer want to live in California. Here's the best part: immigration (both legal and illegal) is slowing due to high rent/real estate prices and a decrease of lower paying jobs. First, how is this bad for Californians? California has the widest spread of demographics in the country. Everything this country has can be found in only this state. Why wouldn't the people that make the decisions for the state (mostly Hollywood Jews) want to get rid of the lower class earners? I'll tell you why. Because if the lower paid people stop paying state taxes, then the higher paid people will have to start paying theirs. Second, there's a reason that everyone flocked to California in the first place. The chase of the American Dream. But now that the American Dream is mostly found on the internet, there's no reason for people to want 72 degree winters. The American Dream is financial. no one gets rich anymore through blood sweat and tears. financial independence is achieved through less work and more bull shit. That is the new American Dream. Learn how to kiss your boss' ass, talk shit about your co-workers and work the corporate ladder like an episode of survivor. Make it happen America. the Chinese economy is counting on your ability to bull shit.
California...here we come
The US/Mexico border issue hit the news wires again recently when msnbc got sick of saying, "Republicans are going to eat your babies." AP published that the US has spent over $90 billion dollars in the past 10 years to secure our border. I don't mind the money being spent, what I mind is that people listen when politicians tell them that crossing the Mexican border is the easiest way for terrorists to enter the US; and $90 billion dollars is a small price to pay to avoid another 9/11. Apparently none of these guys have been to Niagara Falls. I walked across the border with a gallon of Canadian whiskey, 2 hookers and no pants. Then I was abducted by aliens and forced to drink maple syrup, listen to Brian Adams and shoot a moose. that weekend was craaaaaazzzyyyy.
